The ‘Tony’ Collection

The Story

The ‘Tony’ collection represents the British side of my heritage, focusing on familiar routines and memories associated with mornings before school. It captures a sense of everyday nostalgia, drawing on small, often overlooked moments that feel both personal and widely recognisable.

Cereal, in particular, acts as a central visual reference within this collection. As a consistent and familiar part of these morning routines, it becomes a starting point for developing imagery and motifs. Rather than presenting it literally, the forms, textures and colours are reimagined through illustration and surface design, transforming something ordinary into more stylised, fashion-led outcomes.

The collection adopts a more playful and expressive approach through its use of colour and composition, reflecting the energy of these early morning moments.

Designs

‘The Coco Shirt’

This design captures the chaos and mess of mornings before school, translating a familiar and often rushed routine into a more refined, fashion-led context. Elements such as the beaded spoon and spilling milk motif reflect movement and disorder, while the structured silk silhouette contrasts this with a more controlled and elevated finish.

Sleepwear-inspired silhouette developed in collaboration with a tailor, combining silk, leather appliqué and hand embellishment.

‘The Tony Set’

‘Tony’s Table’

This design forms part of the ‘Tony’ collection, developed as a luxury pyjama set in collaboration with a tailor. Inspired by the narrative of morning routines, the design reinterprets these references within an evening-wear context.

Fully hand embellished details using a variety of glass beads in the shape of stars with wings, and beading appliqué of my reimagined Tony motif, using a light blue 100% silk and orange  silk piping. Down the spine and leg I had digital machine embroidery lyrics of the eagle rock song, bringing the two sub collections together in one cohesive piece.

This scarf, Tony’s Table, explores the story of the morning before school, focusing on the chaos and movement of the breakfast table. Milk splatter forms are used to create a sense of energy across the surface, framing the composition.

The reimagined motifs remain the main focus, placed centrally and surrounded by these expressive elements to emphasise movement and disorder within a controlled layout.

This was digitally printed onto a silk de Chine.

‘Before The Bell’

This piece explores different outcomes through working with scarves, applying the ‘Tony’ concept of the morning before school. Each motif was hand painted using gouache, drawing on objects and imagery present at the breakfast table.

The motifs were then composed digitally to create a more considered layout, allowing the design to capture a sense of chaos and movement while remaining balanced. This approach translates everyday elements into a more refined, fashion-led textile outcome.

I then digitally printed it on silk de chine.
