This design, Croc Drop, is inspired by an Australian snack, reimagined in a more abstract and stylised way. The crocodile motif is developed using machine embroidery, creating a clean and defined base. Hand embellishment is then applied to the wings and body using glass beads, adding texture and detail. The composition is designed to suggest movement, with the figure appearing to launch upwards, referencing themes of space within the collection. Line work inspired by my sketchbook drawings is incorporated to create a sense of direction and gradient, guiding the eye through the design.

The ‘Croc Drop’

Hand embellished onto black silk Chinese organza, using glass seed beads individually placed to create directional line work. Bugle beads are used for the star elements, with shorter bugle beads applied to define the crocodile’s wings.

Bullion thread and seed beads are used to add detail to the crocodile's body, building texture and structure across its surface.
