The ‘Eagle Rock’ Collection

The story

The storyline of the ‘Eagle Rock’ collection is centred around memories of late evenings in Australia, capturing a more relaxed and atmospheric side of growing up. It draws on moments of dancing, music and my father, reflecting a sense of movement.

A key influence within this narrative is his love for planes and space, which shapes the overall mood and sense of openness within the collection. Snack-based elements are used to represent these memories, acting as familiar references to these moments and experiences.

Designs

‘Rocket Roo’

Inspired by the Cadbury’s Furry Friends chocolate bar, this sample combines snack-based imagery with references to my father’s love of space, creating a floating character motif. The figure holds a rocket ice lolly, linking back to the initial imagery of the collection.

The design is fully hand-embellished on navy silk using a variety of glass beads, with bugle bead detailing capturing my illustrative handwriting style.

Fully hand embellished motif using a variety of glass beads, focusing on directional beading to capture the movement and expression, beaded directly onto 100% navy blue silk.

‘Allen In The Clouds’

The ‘Eagle Rock Lettering’

Allen in the Clouds, from the ‘Eagle Rock’ collection, reimagines Allen’s jelly snakes within a cloud setting, referencing my father’s love of planes and space. The motif's elevated placement creates a sense of movement through the sky.

Glass beads are applied in a directional pattern to guide the form, while sequins add texture to the clouds.

Glass mix of beads, and sequins appliquéd onto a matte 100% silk.

This sample focuses on texture and directional beadwork, using bugle beads to construct letter forms. The placement of the beads creates movement and structure within each form, reflecting a more graphic and considered approach.

Two-tone colour combinations are used to introduce contrast and communicate the wider colour palette of the collection, adding a controlled pop of colour.

The design is applied onto a metallic navy faux leather base, enhancing the contrast between texture and surface, and giving the sample a more structured, elevated finish.

Appliquéd onto metallic navy faux leather and outlined with hand-stitched bugle beads to create a more graphic, three-dimensional finish.

‘The Croc Drop’

This design, Croc Drop, is inspired by an Australian snack and reimagined in a more abstract, stylised way. The crocodile motif is developed through machine embroidery, creating a clean, defined base.

Hand embellishment is then applied to the wings and body using glass beads, adding texture and detail. The composition is designed to suggest movement, with the figure appearing to launch upwards, referencing the collection's themes of space.

Line work inspired by my sketchbook drawings is incorporated to create a sense of direction and gradient, guiding the eye through the design.

Hand embellished onto black silk Chinese organza, using glass seed beads individually placed to create directional line work. Bugle beads are used for the star elements, with shorter bugle beads applied to define the crocodile’s wings.

Bullion thread and seed beads are used to add detail to the crocodile's body, building texture and structure across its surface.
